mz-2 live edge redwood mantel cut 71x8x11'' thick.  May have been a part of a live tree at the time of Christ.  You should let this mantel shelf acclimate to your area for 2 to 3 months. Work it, use it but no finish till dry.

The back and top are cut flat.  This sale is for 1 unfinished redwood root mantel that has been cleaned up. Could star this color or if you want to sand it some to bring out the reddish color. 

I have been cutting and selling live edge slabs of Redwood, Maple, Myrtle, Poplar, Willow and some Buckeye, oak and Mulberry burl, curly and straight grain for almost 60 years now.
